| Day9

Today was departure day. Most of the families that were still there were leaving for Connecticut today. For some reason before leaving, Mark and Andrew wanted to check out this place that we kept passing on the way to my Uncles house. The place was called the "House of Mystery." According to the signs and person running it, the House of Mystery contained a Vortex. We were told that in this house there was an energy field that distorted space. He gave us a big explination that vortex's are rare natural phenomenon that occur in nature.
Now the house was propped up crookedly on a hill. The entire house was slanted so it felt strange to stand in. But I did not notice any energy field or feel there was anything special. I was not impressed by the House Of Mystery at all. Regardless of a vortex or not. There was an interesting optical illusion where it appeared a marble was rolling up a slant. But we checked on it and found the slant, but we checked with a level and found the slant was acctually going down. It was just the slant of the house that caused the optical illusion to make it appear up.
Another intesting illusion was this standing platform. The person on the left always looks taller. It does show in these pictures, cause Andrew is taller than Mark, which shows in ther previous picture, but not here. We went out Hucklebery picking. Huckleberies are very popular in Montana. I did not get many on this trip. Hucklberries are small and blue. The big red ones are acctually called thimble berries, but look and taste like raspberries.
Originally when planning the tiip, I was not sure whether I could make it or not, so I ordered my tickets later than the rest of the family. The price had gone up but I saved $100 dollars by scheduling myself for a later flight. The plan was to try to get on my parents flight earlier and if I could not make it, then have to stay a bit longer. At this point I was the last one here. I was not able to get on my parents flight, and had to wait 3 hours till mine arrived. It was bad in one way because I had to switch flights several times, and did not end up getting in until almost noon on the next day. But it was good because I got to see a few more areas of Montana.
The interesting thing about Huckleberries is that people have not been able to cultitvate them yet. They can only be picked wild, and only in certain areas, usually at high elevation. My Uncle took me into Hungry Horse to see the Hungry Horse Dam.
This map shows reservior from one side to the other and the streets that run around it. There were several street signs on the way declaring Hungry Horse to be "The best Dam town in the west".

A major source of hydro-electric power. This is called the Glory Hole. If the water in the reservior ever goes too high, it gets sucked down through it.
Eventually it started getting late and I had to make my way back to the airport. This was an interesting eagle statue on display in the Kalispell airport, but the picture came out bad because not only can you see through the glass, it is also creating a reflection. My flight scedule home was interesting. I went from Kallispell, backwards to Seattle. From Seattle to Minneapolis. Then finally from Minneapolis back to Hartford.
The Seattle airport was huge, I had to take a train to reach my gate. I did not arrive home until 11am the next day. I had a 3 hour wait in Seattle and then another few hours in Minneapolis. I was flying most of the night. My plane left Minneapolis at 6am (in thier time zone).
